nuclear power phase-out

I would appreciate some help to extend the part about Denmark in the new article about the nuclear power phase-out. I have the politics of several other countries covered, but Denmark is still missing. Anybody interested? BTW, I also need reviews. Please post here. Hi, I'm Peo from the Danish Wikipedia, and I just happen to work at the only place in Denmark where we've ever operated nuclear reactors, i.e. the Risø National Laboratory. Risø was created in the late 1950's and put to the task of researching into and planning eventual "future" nuclear power i Denmark. Here, we've been running three relatively small nuclear reactors, not for energy production, but for research purposes (one of the reactors was concidered Europe's finest source of "cold" neutrons) and for serving commercial needs for radiation - for many years we irradiated silicon for use in the semiconductor business.

However, the political "mood" turned against nucelar power, even in the midst of the oil crisis of the 1970's, Instead, Risø began looking into other means of producing energy — one of these technologies were wind turbines; a field where Denmark today is an industry leader.

In 1983, nuclear power was finally "ruled out" politically, and this lead to one of Risø's three nuclear reactors to be shut down for good. And shortly after the turn of the century, when the two remaining reacors began showing signs of their 40 year age, the decision was made to end the "nuclear energy chapter" in the history of Denmark: The last reactor was shut down for all time in (I think) 2001. The people who was once operating and maintaining the reactors, are now given the task of finding a way to completely remove the reactors, and clean up the sites for any and all residual radiation — this is expected to take about 20 years.

Risø carries on researching into a whole host of "non-nuclear" energy sources: Improvements to conventional coal- og oil-based energy productions; fuel cells that work on atmospheric air and natural gas, next-generation bio-fuels, super-cheap solar cells made of plastics, and more...

Cooperative movement in Denmark

Hi everyone. I am a Romanian editor, currently contributing articles on the history of various left-wing trends in Romania. It turns out that, during the late 1800s-early 1900s, several agrarian Romanian politicians were enthusiastic about the success of cooperative farming in Denmark, and were offering it as a sample of success. I do not know if an article on that specific topic exists, or if it should/will exist. In case it does, in case it will, or in case you're thinking about it, please contact me on my talk page and provide the title under which it can be found or will be found (I am not watching this page, so please consider giving me a signal if this topic has found an answer or has sparked a debate). If anybody feel any of it can be used, feel free. Agricultural history is not my normal area of expertise, so I have no sources at hand for this particular topic. I've begun to copyedit the text. I have a few books that might be helpful, and the overview by Valentinian should be no problem getting sourced. Reading through it, it's not as much about the coorporative movement and its organization, as it is about general Danish agricultural history from 1400 onwards. If it doesn't exist already, perhaps we should start with a Danish agricultural history article, and then work from there? Poulsen 11:31, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

That sounds like a great idea. You're quite right; my posts dealt mostly with Danish agricultural history as such, which is why I wrote that I'd added a bit of information on Dahn's page. :) I don't like corporate websites as sources as they are normally of pretty low quality, but I wonder if there could be anything of value on the webpages of Arla, Danish Crown or Coop? Interestingly, we have a page on History of agriculture but next to no country-specific articles on this matter (Japanese agriculture before WWII seems to be the exception and there's a little material on Agriculture in Australia. An article about the Danish enclosure movement would also be a great idea. I don't even think we have an illustration of Frihedsstøtten. I'm glad to have sparked off a creative process of this magnitude, and fidgeting to see the end result (with the intention of adding a short note on the status symbol of the movement in Romanian agrarian politics). A minor semantical note: as I see it, the traditional format of wikipedia titles should generally use "x of Denmark"/"x in Denmark" rather than "Danish x" (I suppose this is because the context referes to the country more than it does to the people inside and outside Denmark). After forgetting all about it, I've just taken some time to wikify Valentinian's prose, and make the Andelsbevægelsen article. Though I had the idea of a general history of Danish agriculture, creating two largely unsourced articles seemed just too much and I settled on just one.. New name for Frederiksværk-Hundested municipality

As I (always) have problems using etc. templates, I was wondering, when the article with the name Halsnæs municipality, the new name for Frederiksværk-Hundested municipality as of January 1, 2008, would be set up in the English WP. Bornsommer, you're experienced enough around here to know that the answer to "when" is always "as soon as someone does it" — so it would have been politer and more to the point to ask "could somebody please do X?" than "when will X be done?"

I have moved the article (which is not really that scary a process) and fixed up the "municipalities of Denmark" template. Once the changes to the template propagate through the database, it will be easy to locate articles that link to Frederiksværk-Hundested and need to have their text brought up to date; they will be the only ones left in the "What links here" page for the redirect page. –Henning Makholm 22:07, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Johann Friedrich Struensee

Could someone please work on the POV in Johann Friedrich Struensee. It's an interesting topic and a decent article. There are good sources and illustrations. But the article does not take the "neutral point of view" towards its subject or the accusations made against him. Geographic codes - UN/LOCODE:DK

Personal identification number

I just moved a page, Personal identification number (Denmark) from Social Security number (Denmark). The article could use a little cleaning up, especially when if comes to inserting the official English translations. It also needs a description of the structure of the number itself. Parken image (in Danish)

Hej. Vil en eller anden ikke hjælpe mig med at finde et passende fair use-lisens til Image:Parken.jpg? Jeg har kigget dem igennem og synes ikke der var noget. Jeg har blevet "truet" med at få andre billeder fjernet hvis ikke jeg kom op med et lisens, som jeg dog fandt dertil. Det ville jo være ærgerligt hvis det blev slettet.

Som diskuteret på User talk:Kalaha og User talk:Poulsen må den kunne blive registreret som fair use da Parken kan ses som kulturel vigtig for Danmark. Kalaha 15:18, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Clearly notable. There is a 24-line article (with photo) in Den Store Danske Encyklopædi, saying in part "Trods en levetid på kun halvandet år opnåede gruppen rockmytologisk status; dens eneste lp, Hip (1967), var den første dansksprogede rockplade ...". The annual prize of Foreningen af Danske Musikkritikere is named Steppeulven after them. Ok jeg har vist lige sat en gnist i kog hos snæversynet folk fra Norge og Island, der hævder i følge af en Islandsk saga, at Rollo af Normandiet er fra Island. Hvilket er godt bevist at ikke passer. Desuden er der blevet fundet andre historiske og tidsmæssige fejl i den samme saga.

Oldham

Hello (hallo, goddag) Danish Wikipedians!

This is a long-shot on my part but I'm trying to drum up interest in the Oldham article, which is a current featured article candidate. It's a rather banal town in North West England, but was founded by the Danish in 865, and it's name is in fact of Old Norse origin.

There's not much Danish influence left now, of course (though local people still say "Skriking" when they mean "crying/screaming", which I understand is Danish!?), I just thought it might be of interest to someone here, even if it's just a translation for the Danish language Wikipedia. Date format poll confirmation

There is ongoing discussion on the talk page for the Manual of Style (including a series of polls) aimed at achieving consensus on presenting dates in American (June 15, 1215) or International (15 June 1215) format on an article by article basis. The poll gives full instructions, but briefly the choices are:

• C = Option C, the winner of the initial poll and run-off. (US articles have US format dates, international format otherwise)
• R = Retain existing wording. (National format for English-speaking countries, no guidance otherwise).

Tungsten

The sentence in the tungsten article was changed from:

• The name "Tungsten" (from the Swedish tung sten, meaning "heavy stone") is used in English,

Yes, the words for heavy and stone are the same in Danish and Swedish. However, the original language given in the article should be Swedish since I believe they were Swedish chemists who first named the element Tungsten. — CactusWriter | ^needles 14:15, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

SS Claus Rickmers

I've created the SS Claus Rickmers article. Part of it is sourced from a Danish website which I translated using an on-line translation service. According to a survivor, the only casualty (appart from rats) was a goat, as apparently the captain and the first mate wanted fresh milk during their trip... The crew was changing guards as they struck the mine, so luckily all men were already on deck and ready to jump in the life boats right away. Poulsen (talk) 11:34, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Polskpas card game

I just created this article based on two Danish sources and my understanding of the related German game Kontraspiel. From unreliable sources on the web it appears that the game is still current in some areas of Scandinavia. Perhaps someone would like to help out with checking that I didn't misrepresent the sources (as a German from the south I can sort of make sense of Danish, but may make mistakes), adding up-to-date information, or pointing to other related games. I wouldn't be surprised if something very much like Kontraspiel was the current mode of play for Polskpas. In that case the two articles should probably be merged.

While I am here, I would love to have infromation about the somewhat related game Frantsfuus as well and would really appreciate any pointers to Scandinavian sources on card games with wenzels. Hans Adler 20:15, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
