The discussion on Talk:Coat of arms of Eritrea shows that the moves seem to be controversial. The C&P move should be reverted and integrate the changes made therein, so that a real and proper move request can be opened. 70.29.208.247 (talk) 02:16, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I know this isn't an easy one, but I think this doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. Some years ago, {{Userbox}} was moved to {{User1}}, a user didn't like the move and reverted, but unfortunately not by using the "move" button, but by copying it. Now, the edit histories are on two different pages, which makes it difficult to follow it, especially when interested in who made the template and how it looked like in former times. The only problem, of course, is that the template is widely used so if it changed to some old design during the fix, that would be bad. A possible way to fix this, but not changing the design of thousand of userpages would be as follows: Move "Template:Userbox" to "Template:Userbox/tmp". The design won't change for the user and the redirect will also be protected so that no one can vandalize it. Then, overwrite "Template:Userbox" with the coding of "Template:Userbox/tmp". This will make sure the design won't change for the user. After this, "Template:User1" can be merged with "Template:Userbox/tmp" and be moved back to "Template:Userbox" with a clear edit history. If I haven't missed something, this way of doing it shouldn't give problems, so I'd be happy if this could be done. --The Evil IP address (talk) 15:24, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I started the repair of 52 Allentown before I realized that as a non-administrator I couldn't move the repaired old page due to the redirect to the new page. Some minor changes have been made to some of the new cut and paste pages. Scillystuff (talk) 18:56, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
(Asked in Wikipedia:Requested moves): User:Bettymnz4/Laterite → Laterite (move) — There was an exising article 'Laterite' which was incomplete. I copy-and-pasted that article to my user page and reworked it using verifiable sources, more information and more images. Today I moved that existing article to 'Laterite rocks' so I could move "my" article to the title of 'Laterite'. The program won't let me move "mine" because the title 'Laterite' exists. Could you please let the program know that 'Laterite' no longer exists so I can move mine and try to perform the merge functions? Thank you very much for your help. Incas→Inca civilization: The first versions of "Inca civilization" were basically redirects, and can be discarded up to 10 June 2008, when the cut/paste move took place. --capmo 18:40, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
User:Antony-22/DNA Nanotechnology->DNA nanotechnology: This was a cut-and-paste move from its preparation in user space. The last nine versions on the user space page, after the article was moved, can be safely deleted. Antony-22 (talk) 01:26, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
I did a cut&paste from Terrine to Terrine (cookware) after splitting out Terrine (food) and adding a disambiguation page. (I've since learned about the proper procedure.) There is no further use for Terrine but there is a discussion page. The new article is fine as it stands (stub that it is). Dmforcier (talk) 16:58, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Banqiao Station to Banciao Station. There's currently an WP:RM listed at Talk:Banqiao Station, which is not working because the talk page is at the one name and the article at the other. Not sure on the correct licence-complaint way of resolving this as there are edits on Banciao Station since the cut-and-paste move. Pfainuktalk 12:37, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Goldman Sachs New World Headquarters to 200 West Street. It appears that this was a cut-and-paste move on 5 March 2010 (see here and here). An IP user then attempted to rollback the move using Undo, and a third editor restored the redirect. I think. Could somebody check my math on this one? Cnilep (talk) 21:19, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
This is a bit confusing, let me try to explain it: on 10 January 2005 the article Prospect (band) was created by user:Fpga. In November of the same year, it was converted by two users into an article about a homonymous band. User:Cecil noticed the shift and created a new article named Prospect (Slovenian band), pasting in it the last valid content from the original article "Prospect (band)". In sequence, user:DMacks moved Prospect (band) to Prospect (punk rock band), to create a disambiguation page at "Prospect (band)". The original article, now renamed to "Prospect (punk rock band)", ended up being deleted on 12 February 2008, for lack of notability. What I request is that this article be recreated again so that its first versions (up to 21 November 2006) may be merged into Prospect (Slovenian band)'s history. Thanks, Capmo (talk) 03:25, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Not doneWP:Parallel histories and the 2 pages do not resemble: one was always about the orca and the other was always a disambig page. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 23:54, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Vliet ==> Vliet (canal) -- Vliet, which was specific to the canal was cut paste moved to Vliet (canal) and Vliet was replaced with a disambig page. I'm cleaning up the disambiguation page so it should be fine as is. The history merging is all that's necessary though. Shadowjams (talk) 05:59, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
a mess was made of talk pages after page moves, so could someone histmerge the talk page Talk:Conversation piece (painting) to Talk:Conversation piece at the location of the latter, and leave the newest edits showing (so that the consensus established, such that it is, is visible) 70.29.210.242 (talk) 11:44, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
I sorted the matter out, by plain moves. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 17:00, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Neighborhood America to INgage Networks. Incorrectly created the new page by copy & paste (content from old page Neighborhood America was copied into new page INgage Networks after company rebranding). I now understand how to properly move a page, but since the article is already redirected, I have been unable to make this current correction myself. Thank you. Already Done at about 21:17, 9 February 2010 by User:R'n'B.
This is somewhat complicated. A user did a number of copy paste moves to move Firewall (which described a network firewall) to Firewall (computer). That user then copy pasted Firewall (construction) into Firewall. Sometime after, in the ensuing confusion, an admin deleted Firewall, which held the edit history of the network firewall article. After a short discussion, the agreement was that Firewall should be a disambiguation page (which was previously at Firewall (disambiguation)). The current Firewall page is the old Firewall (disambiguation) page, performed through a proper move. The oldFirewall page, and its history, needs to be merged into the Firewall (networking) page (or alternatively the Firewall (computer) page; that particular issue was not discussed, although the networking version was the pre-existing version, and probably the more pertinent version). The Firewall (construction) page is fine as it is, and needs no direct modification. Shadowjams (talk) 07:15, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Call Me to Call Me (album): The album article was moved by cut-and-paste 6 April 2005. One strange thing here: Four versions of the page (two just before the move, the cut edit, and the one just after) appear to be empty--perhaps missing, because it looks like the editors at the time were making changes to something rather than to nothing, if that makes sense. Maybe there is a logical explanation for this, but I thought that you should be aware of the situation.--ShelfSkewedTalk 16:06, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
There is a recent controversial move from Brahmo to List of Brahmos along with the Talk page in which the entire referenced body article was also deleted, and which has been restored by an anonymous IP using cut-and-paste. As a result the history and talk pages are scattered all over the place. I am requesting that the work of the IP, ie. the restoration of Brahmo should be properly done by an administrator. There is also some ongoing tangential discussion on this at "Talk:Gayatri_Mantra" [4] between the involved editors which may prevent future moves/deletions without consensus. I also think a temporary semi-protect should be placed on the Brahmo page to prevent anonymous IPs. Annette46 (talk) 05:42, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Raja James Sheshardi was created as a WP:COATRACK article: decent material about Pygmies was placed in it, purporting to be a biography of the author of the study about Pygmies. I merged the material into Pygmies#Systematic discrimination, but that leaves a redirect from Raja James Sheshardi to an inappropriate place. I'd like to see the history merged so that I can delete the redirect.—Kww(talk) 15:27, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
for Science 2.0 all I really want to do is make sure its history shows that Science2.0 was originally created by new user and very prestigious instructional technology expert User:Erik Duval because he created it as something of a project to observe how Wikipedia works, and I don't want him to not see his name at the beginning of the article. Thanks. Amientan (talk) 18:13, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
List of Brussels Metro Lines was clearly started with an unattributed cut and paste from this version of List of Brussels Metro stations. Since then several edits have been made to both articles but it is now proposed they be merged (which seems sensible). No idea how this one should be handled so posted here for someone with more experience to look over. Dpmuk (talk) 18:28, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
