Why is Lisa Frank excluded from the contemporary American painters section?[edit]

She may have created a lot of work specifically for decorating products, but that should not be basis enough to leave her out. She is an incredibly influential and prolific airbrush painter who developed her own unique art style in response to and as a mode of interpreting and communicating with the culture and community she occupies. Her authentic and relentless refusal to tone down her subject matter sends a strong message of "you matter" to millions of children and adults, and the deep symbolism present in some of the overarching themes and motifs in her work hints to her own sense of release in creating her iconic visionary works. 198.255.177.100 (talk) 08:51, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If the artist Lisa Frank passes WP:NARTIST you could start an article here WP:AFC. Theroadislong (talk) 08:56, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Anonymous editor: Please let us know which section of which article you are referring to so that we can include Lisa Frank's name there. Shantavira|feed me 10:47, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is an encyclopedia. "Incredibly influential", "unique", "authentic and relentless", "iconic visionary works"? You're at the wrong kind of website. -- Hoary (talk) 11:03, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Lisa Frank, according to reliable sources, is a commercial designer and illustrator, not a painter. Cullen328 (talk) 21:02, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What is the difference between a painter and an illustrator who uses paint? —Tamfang (talk) 03:30, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removing part of history for a page?[edit]

Hello! I was working on Draft:Home Library Service in my sandbox for a while, and then once I'd decided there were enough sources that it could possibly be an article, I moved it to the draftspace to continue working on it there. However, I've realise now that the history of the page has my other sandbox edits in it (me messing around with code and Pokemon userboxes) which is completely unrelated to the work on the current draft. Is there a way (presumbly not for me, but someone with higher permissions) to remove those earlier edits from the drafts history? -- NotCharizard 🗨 09:02, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators can do this, yes; it's called a history split. What's the first revision you want kept there (I'm guessing this one?) Do you want the other revisions stuck somewhere else, like back in User:Notcharizard/sandbox2, or just deleted? —Cryptic 09:08, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would be the best first revision - and it's fine for the old revisions to be deleted. Thank you so much! -- NotCharizard 🗨 09:40, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

hindi to english[edit]

how to write अ, त and द in english? Sravan900 (talk) 11:06, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know of an "official" transliteration; but Devanagari gives some ideas. Maproom (talk) 11:23, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also WP:Indic transliteration. ColinFine (talk) 11:47, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
a, ta, da. In older transliterations any of these as may become u, as in Punjab (more faithfully Panjāb). —Tamfang (talk) 03:33, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Photo upload[edit]

I have tried repeatedly to upload a photo which I took myself, and ticked the box to confirm this. I kept gettting the error message that it could not be sure etc etc. Is it because I removed the background from behind the person's head? Lady-Lesley (talk) 15:24, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be resolved, per the OP's talk page. 57.140.16.48 (talk) 16:24, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

delete account[edit]

How do I delete my Wikipedia account ? BillSuda (talk) 16:42, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:VANISH, but for technical reasons outright deletion is not possible.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:46, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BillSuda, I'm afraid you can't. But you've only made this one single edit. You can just abandon the account. Valereee (talk) 16:46, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But save the password in case you change your mind next year! —Tamfang (talk) 03:34, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rename a page[edit]

I want to remove the page Friedrich Bessel to Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel. The reason is discussed in section "Article title" on the talk:page. I tried in the way that is given on Help:How to move a page, but it doesn't work. What is going wrong? Can anyone help? Dioskorides (talk) 16:48, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The issue was that the target page already existed as a redirect, which needed to be deleted. I've done that. Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 16:51, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for your help! --Dioskorides (talk) 17:17, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft Page[edit]

I have a draft page built. How do I get it registered as an actual page? Bkmarsha (talk) 18:30, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bkmarsha I have submitted your draft for review. We have over 2,000 drafts waiting in the review pile, so this may take some time. Qcne (talk) 19:35, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bkmarsha: I have reviewed and published the article. Thank you for your contributions! Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:36, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User page[edit]

Why don't I have the option to see how many edits I've made and automatic edit suggestions on the user page? דוד טאוב (talk) 18:43, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Go to Special:Homepage. You could edit your userpage ("User:" followed by your username) to specify a redirect to Special:Homepage. There's some dialogue to go through to set it up to suggest pages to edit ... Users ordinarily go through the initial sequence only once, so that they tend to have very limited recollection of the details. (I was perplex when I first did it, just a couple of days ago, because it was necessary to click on some things and that just wasn't apparent to me. (One thing I do recall is that it initially shows very broad categories with thousands of pages to be edited, but this will get narrowed down, though it's not obvious when you need to click on certain things to do this.) Fabrickator (talk) 19:11, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
דוד טאוב, go to Special:MyContributions. At the very top, below "User contributions for דוד טאוב" and above "Search for contributions", you'll see "A user with [number] edits. Account created on [date]." So you do have the option to see how many edits you've made. I hope Fabrickator's instructions will help you with getting automatic edit suggestions on the user page. I'm not familiar with newcomer pages like Special:Homepage, having registered 18 years ago. Nyttend (talk) 20:03, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How to add a link inside a tooltip?[edit]

I know it's possible in references using HTML (like so: <ref name="base text">[[wikilink]] reference text)</ref>) but how can I do the same thing in a tooltip? Emdosis (talk) 21:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Are you thinking of the tooltips that appear like if you hover over this text, or footnotes like this[a]? With the second, you can put the note you want to display in an {{efn}} tag with normal wikilinks, but it isn't possible to display a link in the first one. Tollens (talk) 21:31, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

{{efn}}

Yeah I'm sorry, I don't know what that is. I'm just asking if this[1] can be replicated but instead of appearing as a numbered reference the pop-up is over regular text Emdosis (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I assume you're looking for something similar to the first then, like over this text. Unfortunately that isn't possible as far as I'm aware. Tollens (talk) 22:17, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see.. Well thanks for trying anyway. Emdosis (talk) 22:50, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How should I format a band bio[edit]

How should I write band bio start to finish chronologically The Woods (band) (talk) 23:56, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you're asking whether "start to finish chronologically" is a good sequence, I'd say yes. If you're asking about the steps in writing it, see WP:YOURFIRSTARTICLE. —Tamfang (talk) 03:36, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
