Your VandalProof Application[edit]

Dear Nibuod,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that you have only been a member of the project a week - and I really need to see some recent change patrol work first. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. - Glen 12:08, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message. Just to respond to the concerns on my talk page, it wasn't at all a bulk rejection, and it did not have to do with your edit count. As mentioned above, quite simply there's no evidence of any prior vandalism patrolling on your part, and we need to ensure that VP users do understand when you use the appropriate {{test}} template as the software does not choose for you. Hope this makes sense, and I look forward approving your app very soon. - Glen 11:39, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism work[edit]

Several times you have beaten me to revert vandalism. Keep up the hard work. :) So in recognition of this

VandalSniper[edit]

Thanks for applying to use VandalSniper! You have been approved. If have not already done so, you may find instructions to install VS on the project page.

As some of the libraries VandalSniper runs on are currently in transition, there have been a few issues reported with setup. At the moment, Linux is the most compatible platform for VS. If you have questions or problems, you may find help on the project page or its talk page. Please also feel free to contact me for help and I will do my best to assist you.

Thanks for becoming a part of one of Wikipedia's best new software tools! -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 18:20, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to VandalProof! 1.3[edit]

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any other moderator, or you can post a message on the discussion page and please note this is VP 1.3 not 1.2.2 see this for the approved list. Upcoming template changes[edit]

Hi, I've just noticed that you recently left a templated userpage message. I'm just bringing to your attention that the format and context of these templates will be shortly changing. It is recommended that you visit WikiProject user warnings and harmonisation discussion pages to find out how these changes could affect the templates you use. We also would appreciate any insights or thoughts you may have on the subject. Thanks for your understanding. Best regards Khukri (talk . contribs) 14:25, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Reconsideration[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ActionScript

Using written language in its pure form reduces the ability to efficiently share complex information with the reader. Professional con artists know this, and break the rules to better suit their needs and increase positive response. The tactic, though practiced by evil men, is not evil.

My alterations used a little sarcasm, humor, and misinformation in an attempt to transmit knowledge to readers in an indirect, yet more convincing fashion than supported by the standard rules of English grammer and strict interpretations of Wikipedia laws.

You appear to be a person of reasonable intelligence. As a C# programmer, you would quickly discover the many serious shortcomings of Flash and ActionScript were you ever to attempt development using these "technologies". If you were to compare your personal experience and knowledge to the message I burried within the article on ActionScript, you would find that, while the letter of the law was broken, the spirit was not.

I trust you will take this information into proper consideration, and I am confident you will ultimately find that my alterations produced vast improvements to the article's utility.

Good day, sir.

Sorry; thanks.

South African Wikimedia Chapter[edit]

Hi there :) The idea of setting up a local Wikimedia chapter has been discussed by South African Wikipedians (and those associated with other Wikimedia projects) for some time now, and we want to help turn this dream into a reality. There are currently over 25 chapters established around the world, and several more planned and being discussed, but so far, none in Africa. A South African chapter, should it become a reality, would be a continental first. If you're interested in being involved in the creation of a South African Wikimedia Chapter, could you please email me directly at wikipedia@africancommons.org Kaydee 68 (talk) 13:55, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

South African Wikimedia Chapter update and mailing list[edit]

Hi there. Local Wikipedians have set up a mailing list where we will be discussing the formation of a local Wikimedia Chapter in South Africa. Please join the mailing list at this url https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediaza. There is also a page set up on Meta where you can add your name if you're interested to take this idea forward. Check out http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_South_Africa. Call for Wikipedians in Residence in Africa[edit]

Hello,

I hope you are well and thriving!! WikiAfrica has just put out a call for two Wikipedians in Residence. One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabell@doualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahf@africacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.

If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
