File source problem with File:Live 8 Screenshot.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Live 8 Screenshot.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:11, 18 November 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 03:11, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Delphi Logo.svg[edit]

Thanks for trying to resolve the issue. However, the source still remains unclear. Please specify: Exactly where in the website did you get the SVG file which you have uploaded? A URL is highly appreciated. Fleet Command (talk) 20:11, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Um, well. I did not take an SVG from the site. I did, however, use a raster format image that was previously here on WP as a template for an SVG that I created. Is that not allowed? Kerdek (Tell me if I screw up) 21:02, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry to say but it is a serious violation of copyright rules: You have created a derivative work from a copyrighted work; and not just an average copyrighted property, but from a logo! Your derivative work is no longer eligible for U.S. fair-use policy. It is Illegal with a Captial "I"!!! So illegal that may endanger the entire Wikipedia!
A logo or an icon may be uploaded to Wikipedia, but only under certain conditions:
  1. Compliance with the terms of U.S. fair use policy.
  2. Compliance with Wikipedia Non-free Content Criteria (NFCC) Policy
Now, if you wish to correct this issue, you should hurry: Please find a raster version of that logo suitable for this article. Make sure you have a good rationale for uploading it. If you are uploading it for the purpose identification and critical commentary, maybe it is better to upload the Delphi icon instead of its logo. Then, edit the logo to the extents allowed by the law and NFCC: Trimming the surrounding area of the logo and removing non-logo-ish areas is OK but keep the logo size at 48x48 or 64x64 (per clause 3 of NFCC). Now, upload this new logo under a new file name. Then, edit File:Delphi Logo.svg add {{db-author}} to the top of it, so that an administrator can delete it.
If you need help, please feel free to leave a message. I'll respond as soon as I can.
Thanks in advance. Fleet Command (talk) 21:52, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about that. I really wish stuff like this was more clearly laid out. Anyway, the image is gone, and I can't seem to find the jpg that was up before. The article doesn't need a logo too badly anyway. Kerdek (Tell me if I screw up) 22:04, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Kerdek. You are an angel. Fleet Command (talk) 16:45, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image reversions.[edit]

If you are about to ask my why I reverted so many images just recently, this may help you:

One year ago, I took it upon myself to make vector versions of all my favorite software logos by hand-typing them in the SVG format. I was under the impression that it was acceptable for me to do that and then upload them here in place of the actual ones. I got back on today and bothered to read a year's worth of messages, and read up on the copyright policy. Pursuant to the policies in place, I reverted all of the images I had created vector copies of, and requested deletion of the images that I uploaded in the SVG format. Very sorry for my idiocy, Kerdek (Tell me if I screw up) 02:13, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Go Fly Logo.svg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Updated scripts[edit]

Hi Kerdek. I edited your vector.js to update you to the latest version of TemplateScript. You were using a much older version called regex menu framework, so the main difference you'll see is an improved regex editor. I also updated deprecated functions and made your scripts HTTPS-compatible. Let me know if anything breaks. :) —Pathoschild 02:12, 09 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Unused personal photo. Out of scope.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
