Bot filter error? Help

Hi, could you please help with your bot thingy on the Murder of Lisa Hession page? It keeps deleting a non-free image but I gave all the reasons why it's fair use. I think it must be some sort of filter error ObserverSpider (talk) 10:19, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

It was not an error. The non-free content policy is stricter than fair use. At a minimum, you were missing the title of the article in the non-free use rationale. — JJMC89 01:18, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi I need your help

I’m professional football player in Cambodia. Actually I need your help to make my Wikipedia page. I will give you my sample of my sandbox. I hope you see it, thank you for your contribute. (Redacted) Rim soheng (talk) 15:35, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

I will not be helping you with your conflict of interest. Please also read Wikipedia:Autobiography. — JJMC89 01:20, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

Non-free scale message

When the non-free message popped up on a two fair-use files that I uploaded, I quickly went into an image re-sizer and changed the image to a much smaller format. Today it popped up again on both files. This is the first image, which was taken more than 50 years ago, and I changed from a 960 × 1,441 (px) file to a 275 × 413 (px) file. The second, which was taken almost 20 years ago (18 years), was uploaded as 2,336 × 3,504 (px) and switched to a 275 × 413 (px) file. I am just saying that I reverted the second time the bot had put the messages on both pages the second time so that there is no fuss as to why I had done that.

Thank you,

BillClinternet (talk) 02:26, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

They both still exceed 100,000 px, so further reduction would be needed. WP:F7a applies to both though. — JJMC89 02:39, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't notice this. Thank you for telling me. I will resize once more tomorrow. (10:45 PM in my time as of posting)
Thank you.

I would also like to ask how F7a applies? I am not trying to go against it, however, I feel my rationales on both images are acceptable. In the most recent royal marriages, Harry and Meghan, William and Catherine, and Andrew and Fergie all have images of the bride and groom in the outfits that they wore on the day. The only two that I found were the wedding of Edward and Sophie, and then the wedding of Charles and Camilla. The Prince of Wales investiture, however, most of the photos on the article are images of the protests and people who were against the monarchy on the day of the investiture, none of Charles, which I thought was strange since Charles was the main topic of the article (maybe the protester images could have been put on the article that was simply the Investiture of the prince of Wales rather than Charles'). The wedding photo can't be justified in a similar way. I felt I met all of the requirements, and the image fit the subject. I would also like to say the problem of copyright on the images I uploaded has not been brought up previously. The only moderation action that was reported was when DrKay had told me that I couldn't use the Charles investiture image on Charles' article because of minimum use.
I have nothing personally against copyright restrictions on Wikipedia, and nothing against the rule in question. And of course, I have nothing against your claim that the rule in question can be put into play for the files I uploaded. All I'd like to know is why it may be instated on them. I will be resizing the images tomorrow.
Thank you for the help,
BillClinternet (talk) 03:08, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
Those other photos are freely licensed. F7a (and associated WP:NFCC#2 and WP:NFC#UUI#7) is about media from commercial sources, e.g. Getty. The photos aren't even mentioned in the articles, let alone the subject of sourced commentary. — JJMC89 02:46, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

Email

Thanks for your answer to my email, which you sent a few days ago, but which I have only just seen, because you sent it directly, rather than via Wikipedia's email service, so I didn't get a notification. I had not realised that attaching an email address to one's account and enabling email from other users were two separate actions, though now you've pointed it out, it obviously makes sense. File:Fatjoelogo.png

Hi JJMC89. Do you think File:Fatjoelogo.png can be converted to {{PD-logo}} given that it's just text. The uploader might have just been erring on the side of caution when they uploaded it as {{Non-free logo}}. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:50, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

Probably. If you think it is, you don't have to ask me – just relicense it. — JJMC89 04:11, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

Removal of file Hauts Lyonnais logo.png

Hi. In [1] your bot removed the above image from Hauts Lyonnais, citing no non-free use rationale. However, when the file was uploaded by @Paul Vaurie:, the file did have a non-free use rationale. Someone has since edited the page File:Hauts Lyonnais logo.png to remove this [2], possibly not understanding why it was there (as it appears the user did not have English as a first language).

Is there any chance the file could be re-instated please. I have reverted the file page to reinstate the non-free use rationale. Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 21:33, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

@Gricehead: Hello Gricehead, thanks for finding the mistake. However, I don't see why you need permission from JJMC89 to reinstate the file on the Hauts Lyonnais article - I think you can just revert the bot's edit. Paul Vaurie (talk) 21:48, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
What Paul Vaurie said – you don't need to ask me. — JJMC89 04:11, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
Noted. Thanks both. Gricehead (talk) 07:54, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

JJMC89 Bot

Hello, JJMC89,

I have a question about your bot. As you can see in Wikipedia:Database reports/Empty categories, there are some empty categories regarding terrorism in different countries. It looks like the bot moved the categories to their new titles but didn't recategorize the articles and categories that were under the old names (see Category:20th-century terrorist incidents in Denmark vs. Category:Terrorist incidents in Denmark in the 20th century). The bot handles these processes routinely so I'm not sure what caused this glitch. But I thought I'd bring it to your attention as one of my regular tasks is tagging empty categories. Many thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 01:08, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

It looks like everything was transferred over. I guess it just takes time. I'll try to be more patient in the future. ;-) Liz Read! Talk! 18:49, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
It required template editing (Special:Diff/1151694366/1166899773) instead of the bot handling it. — JJMC89 23:54, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
