How to insert a picture into an article

The syntax used for displaying an image is:

[[File:{name}|{type}|{location}|{size}|{alt=}|{caption}]]

Only [[File:{name}]] parameter is required.
Do not put spaces between parameters. The other parameters are optional and can be placed in any order. Some infoboxes do not require the brackets. Keep parameters in lower case. The other parameters are:
Type
'thumb' / 'thumbnail' or 'frame'. This causes image to be displayed with specific formatting. "thumb" is normally preferred.
Location
'right', 'left', 'center' or 'none'. Determines placement of the image on the page. "Left" or "right" is the norm, but large panoramas or timelines can be displayed in the center.
Size
{width}px or {width}x{height}px (e.g. 50x40px, would limit width to 50 pixels and height to 40 pixels). Normally only one variable is used. Use common sense when determining the sizes; you can use the "Show preview" button if you need to. If thumb or thumbnail is chosen, size should normally be left out, so that the size defaults to the size set in a user's preferences.
alt=
(keep it lower case). This is the "alternate image" parameter used to describe the image for screenreaders or for people with low-vision. It should be more descriptive than the caption alone. Do not use this for another copy of the caption or of the article title, as the reader will already be aware of these.
Caption
Any element which cannot be identified as one of the above is automatically treated as caption text. It is traditional to put this last. The caption should identify what the image is, and ideally be a complete sentence that adds to the article by pointing out something a casual reader would not have noticed otherwise, or add information the pertains to the image. Full sentence or multi fragment captions require full stop punctuation.

If you have created a picture that is not already in Wikipedia's image collection on the Commons that you want to include in an article, you will need to upload it first. Bonus tip: Similar formatting is used to insert basic audio or basic video clips into articles.

A tag has been placed on Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I am afraid I have deleted the article. I note that:

  • The article consists of a copied entry from "Explanatory dictionary of Azerbaijani places' names in Armenia" [1];
  • The dictionary itself is clearly a partisan source;
  • You previously created the article Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan consisting of text copied from the same source (now speedily deleted as promotional);
  • The article was misleading - the mountain is in Armenia, but the article made it seem as if it was in Azerbaijan;
  • There are no relevant Google hits for either "Aghatgaya" or "Akatkar" (the names cannot be found at Google Maps).

Mike Rosoft (talk) 11:00, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding entries copied from "Explanatory dictionary of Azerbaijani places' names in Armenia" to Wikipedia. First, doing this constitutes copyright violation. Second, the dictionary is a partisan source, so it would be preferred to use a different source for the history of the village; see the policy of neutrality. Third, there are no other Google hits for the name "Aghahamzali". (In any case, if Wikipedia were to have an article about the village, it would use its common name - Marmarshen.) - Mike Rosoft (talk) 06:10, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is possible that the dictionary has a typo for both the Armenian and the Azerbaijani name of the village/town. Wikipedia already has an article Marmarashen, which lists the other name as "Aghamzali". - Mike Rosoft (talk) 06:19, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Turns out, almost all Google hits for "Aghamzali" have been copied from Wikipedia. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 09:38, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have deleted the rest of your articles which you have copied from the same source. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 06:30, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
