Translink services templates[edit]

Arnzy... you've uncovered my secret testing lab... actually I was about to put something in the talk page of the TL services page anyway.

I'm trying to make a template to tell what region each range of route numbers is in, with the ultimate goal of being able to plug in a route number and have it spit out a colour based on its region, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting my head around the Wiki syntax - I haven't found anything which will let me do that.

But at the moment it's in the construction phase. I might try and make a table based version of it soon. --Bunza 13:19, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Noted, I'll leave ya to it on that, but may play around on other parts of the template. need any assistance let me know via my talk page. --Arnzy (whats up?) 13:32, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am doing a review of the existing TransLink services page with minor changes resulting from a) some corrections which got under the radar and b) a few 29 May 2006 BT changes - hopefully the last major one before everything gets templated. Will there be an hours of operation template? SM247 01:58, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Update - have uploaded all the vias and origins, except for The Loop. The destinations will need to be changed for some routes e.g. Great Circle Line 598/599, Strathpine Link 674 (these are mainly loops). The service types also have to be done. The alphanumeric combination routes need to be made an exception i.e. The Loop, TX1-5 and the NightLinks. SM247 06:14, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have now finished off practically everything except hours of operation and a destination for The Loop. A few suggestions remain:
- Exceptions to the colour scheme - Routes 240-241 (purple), 310, 315 (darkred), 192-197, 199 (darkblue), 463 (green), 471-476 and 598-598 (darkblue) - some show up in the normal range e.g. GCL is coloured teal
- 323 and 393 retain their green colour despite being Brisbane Central (the TT technically says Brisbane North but they website lists them in Brisbane Central and they are entirely in the inner city). 470 is best kept in Brisbane West despite also being in Central on the site becuase it comes with the 416 which is clearly a western route and the TT is magenta (cf the other 470's which are blue)
- NightLinks can be separated from Brisbane South and put by themeselves
- Brisbane Central Routes should be co-located together
SM247 01:15, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Separated the GCL routes 598/599, got it to list the operator as BT, however those routes are coloured as Southern Region. --Arnzy (whats up?) 01:27, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When I get some time I'll help out a bit more... I've only been doing bits and pieces. But I just thought it could be an idea if we include a small icon as the final column which is a link to the timetable on the TL site. Think it has some merit? --Bunza 04:41, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The five base templates are now done (I was quite bored this weekend and its actually more interesting than my coursework...) Apart from a few technical issues, we're well on the way. I think the TT link may be a good idea if its only small and at the end. Also, the operating times need to be plugged into the template.

Once that's done, the next stage I recommend is replacing the existing services page with the templates, them progressivley rolling it out to a) railway stations, b) bus and busway stations (including lists for inner city busy rail and bus stations), c) ferry wharves and d) any other pages where it has cropped up e.g. bus upgrade zone, Albany Creek, Queensland, CityTrain etc.SM247 04:46, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems we are basically done. The 'via' problem is fixed, as are the little exceptions. For the dual operator ones, if BT runs them with a subcontractor (e.g. PRT, South-West Transit, HTM) it probably doesn't matter that they are not included as they are still BT's responsibility and only BT appears on the TT. The only exception is the 310/315 where BT does the former and HBL the latter, which I have fixed up. SM247 23:37, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent! Good work!
How should we implement it? I suggest, table on the main services page, and perhaps the line format on each station/busway page so as not to detract from the article itself. --Bunza 23:43, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably as you just outlined, but for those busway/bus/rail stations with their own page just for connections, the table for those as well (as per the main master list page). Table format will probably be OK for bus stations as there is little other detail at this stage (although will have to work out a presentable way of putting stops in e.g. Toombul A, B, C. The next project might be fixing those up to appear a little more like the Perth ones with a station infobox and piccies. SM247 00:25, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have just installed the table format on the QSBS routes page as a trial. SM247 03:40, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Have now done all Gold Coast bus and rail stations (except Beenleigh) and all BCC wharves in new format and will continue to roll out conventional format for rail stations line by line. Table format may be reserved for bus stations only. SM247 10:35, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There is a problem with Gold Coast and Brisbane North colours not showing up in text form. SM247 00:10, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Now the problem has been reversed - text entries are fine, table entries are missing colours (still for those two regions). It was all working before from memory. SM247 07:03, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry it took so long to get around to, with uni assignments et al. It was a problem with the combination of html colour names and hex codes and the different methods of parsing. I just converted it all to hex codes using [[1]] to be done with it. It must have been a slight tweaking of the MediaWiki code overnight that caused it, as none of the templates were changed. -Bunza 14:37, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

-Bunza 02:48, 9 June 2006 (UTC) .... ? Excuse me Bunza what is the relevance of "Richard Storie, Year 11"? 144.133.216.231 08:22, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Methinks you used cut where you should have merely copied, as this comment has been pasted from my user talk page. Jammo (SM247) 11:09, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry my mistake. What is "Richard Storie, Year 11"? 144.133.216.231 11:33, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On this front, I have requested that the TSS page be locked temporarily due to persistent and pernicious vandals, notwithstanding my concerns about the POV remarks on academic performance. Jammo (SM247) 04:47, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
