some errors[edit]

Hi,

I'm contacting you as you made the most recent changes to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UN_M49 and updated amongst other things a sub title to "Groupings no longer in use" which makes me think you might have some clearer views on the errors I spotted.

I compared the code hierarchy against the United Nations website (https://unstats.un.org/unsd/methodology/m49/overview/) and found a few errors. For example: - Sub-region 003 North America is mentioned in Wiki, but on UN website they are not there and I didn't find any indication that the M49 Standard got changed since Dec 2021. - The text under "Groupings no longer in use" is confusing to me. The (obsolete since Dec 2021) tells me that I can ignore the whole paragraph if I am only interested in the current state, however in the line below it says that the groupings that for introduced in 1996 where removed in Dec 2021. It also lists the region 021 Northern America as not longer in use, but it is in use.

To summarize the hierarchy: - the Wiki code list shows USA under 001 (World) -> 019 (Americas) -> 003 (North America) -> 021 (Northern America) -> 840 USA - the UN website shows the USA under 001 -> 019 -> 021 -> 840.

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Global North and Global South, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Your constant removals of Singapore and Taiwan on that page since November 2022 is unjustified and has pretty much amounted to disruptive editing. October 2023[edit]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Global North and Global South, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 08:05, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Estonia shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Information icon Hello, I'm TheEpTic. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to LGBT rights in South Korea—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. On 16 April 2024, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2024 South Korean legislative election, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Schwede66 00:18, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And I agree with the above. You should create an account (if you haven't already). Schwede66 00:19, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
