NoSeptember's Request for Adminship standards:

  1. Involvement in key name spaces:
    1. Wikipedia talk - shows an involvement in discussing policy issues of WP. I look at the talk category because many people do a lot of AfD, other deletion pages, and RfA, but I want to see discussion of underlying policy, not just specific articles and users.
    2. Category and Template name space - shows an understanding of navigation and structure of the encyclopedia. We are not just an accumulation of random articles, we need navigation to help people find what they are looking for. An admin should have experience working in this area.
    3. User talk - needs to show good ability to deal with other users and not be afraid to ask for advice.
    4. Main article space - you should be a good contributor of content so you can relate to normal users. You didn't join WP as a social club did you? Admins should continue to build the encyclopedia.
  2. Time:
    1. 70 days minimum for the perfect candidate who is actively involved in most areas of the project and has been consistent over that 70 days.
    2. 100 days minimum for the specialized candidate who is primarily focused in a few areas of the project (such as a vandal fighter with some AfD involvement but not active in other areas).
  3. Activity - overall edits should be at least 500 edits a month for the past three months. A constant editor is less likely to burnout and less likely to melt down into a problem admin. It is fine to be very active in the last month (i.e. 85% of your edits) as long as you showed consistent and steady effort during your less active period. But a short spurt of activity without any prior history to speak of is a warning sign of potential burnout or melt down.
  4. What type of admin will this be? - others pay close attention to vandal fighting, so I do not focus on it so much. We need admins of all types: vandal fighters, policy discussers, mentors/mediators, etc. Just wanting the rollback button is not a good reason. You don't have to be an expert in all areas to be worthy of adminship, but you have to show you have something to offer as an admin.
