Writing plot summaries[edit]

As the template above indicates, plot summaries cannot be copied from or closely paraphrased from previously published sources, unless we can verify that these are public domain or compatibly licensed with Wikipedia (which requires that they explicitly allow both commercial reuse and derivative works). Instead, they should be written in your own words, which means starting from scratch with both language and structure. Removing or changing a few words does not erase the copyright concerns, but creates a derivative work. For recent example:

The source says:

Escaping their day jobs as archeology professors, Kirk and Jason unearth the truth behind a rare gun allegedly owned by notorious outlaw John Wesley Hardin, as well as a suit connected to Bonnie and Clyde.

This is simply an abridgment of that source:

A rare gun allegedly owned by notorious outlaw John Wesley Hardin and a suit connected to Bonnie and Clyde
