The April 2015 Nepal earthquake (also known as the Gorkha earthquake) killed 8,962 people in Nepal and injured 21,952 more. It occurred at on Saturday 25 April 2015, with a magnitude of 7.8Mw or 8.1Ms and a maximum Mercalli Intensity of X (Extreme). Its epicenter was east of Gorkha District at Barpak, Gorkha, roughly 85 km (53 mi) northwest of central Kathmandu, and its hypocenter was at a depth of approximately 8.2 km (5.1 mi). It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–India earthquake. The ground motion recorded in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, was of low frequency, which, along with its occurrence at an hour when many people in rural areas were working outdoors, decreased the loss of human lives.

In the film, Haku Kale (Saugat Malla) suffers from poverty and, inspired by a recent successful bank robbery, plans to rob a bank in Kathmandu alongside four other criminals. The film, released on 13 January 2012 in Nepal, received critical acclaim with praise directed towards the performances of the cast, the screenplay, twists, climax and the direction of Nischal Basnet. The film developed a cult following especially Saugat Malla's character Haku Kale became a cult character in Nepali cinema. With an estimated budget of 5,000,000 to 7,000,000 Nepalese rupees (NPR), Loot grossed 52 million NPR at the box office and went on to become the highest grossing Nepali movie of all time, breaking several records at the box office. Loot is considered a landmark film in Nepalese critically and commercially. It is credited for bringing realism to Nepali cinema rather than focusing on larger than life routine masala Nepali film and brought a new wave of Cinema in Nepal. The film is also credited for reviving the box office in Nepal, attracting Nepali youth audience who at that time were attracted to Hollywood and Bollywood cinema moreso than routine Nepali cinema. Bishnu Majhi (Nepali: विष्णु माझी; born 1986) is a Nepalese folk singer. The highest paid singer in Nepal, she has recorded over 5,000 songs in a career spanning 15 years, including "Sital Dine Pipal Sami Chha", "Driver Dai Man Paryo Malai", "Lalupate Nughyo Bhuintira", "Purbako Mechi Ni Hamrai Ho, Paschim Mahakali Ni Hamrai Ho" and "Rumal Hallai Hallai", among others. Her 2018 song "Salko Patko Tapari Huni" became the most viewed Nepali folk song on Youtube, with more than 90 million views, as of early 2020. Her awards include Hits FM Music Awards and Kalika FM Awards.
Born to a poor family in rural Syangja, she was educated up to the fifth grade, and started singing at public events aged 13. She quickly rose to fame after she began her professional career in Kathmandu around the year 2004, with help from Sundarmani Adhikari, whom she would later marry. She has led a private life throughout her career, with her husband managing all her contracts, schedule and communications, leading to speculations and public concern regarding her wellbeing and safety. Yomari, also called yamari, (Nepal Bhasa: 𑐫𑑀𑐩𑐵𑐬𑐷 or 𑐫𑑅𑐩𑐵𑐬𑐷) is a delicacy of the Newar community in Nepal. It is a steamed dumpling that consists of an external covering of rice flour with sweet fillings such as chaku and khuwa. The delicacy plays a very important role in Newa society, and is a key part of the festival of Yomari Punhi. According to some, the triangular shape of the Yamari is a symbolical representation of one half of the Shadkona, the symbol of Saraswati and wisdom. (Full article...)
