Cox Town, Bengaluru is a neighborhood of the Bangalore Cantonment, located in the central part of the city and named after the last Collector and District Magistrate of the Bangalore Civil and Military Station, Alexander Ranken Cox (A R Cox), Indian Civil Services. It is one of the suburbs which came out of the plan to de-congest thickly populated areas of the Bangalore Cantonment after the bubonic plague. Agricultural fields were converted for this purpose, and town was planned according to modern hygienic standards, with drainage and conservancy conveniences. Sarvagnanagara is bound by the Bangalore-Madras Railway line on the North and East, Wheeler Road in the East and the Ulsoor Polo Ground in the South. It consists of posh localities like Heerachand Layout and other localities like Sindhi Colony, Jeevanahalli, Doddigunta, and roads such as Assaye Road, Charles Campbell Road, Wheeler Road, etc. and is adjoining the suburbs of Pulakeshi Nagara, Sri Krishnaraja Wadiyar Nagara and Cooke Town, with easy access to the Bengaluru East Railway Station, Halasuru, Lingarajapura, Shivajinagara. Sarvagnanagara is a well planned, posh and preferred locality in the Bangalore Cantonment, created during the British Raj. The residents of Sarvagnanagara follow a liberal 'live a let live' attitude, with suburb still retaining much of its green cover, without excessive commercialisation. The bull referred to is a sacred Hindudemi-god, known as Nandi; Nandi is a close devotee and attendant of Shiva. Dodda Basavana Gudi is said to be one of the biggest temple to Nandi in the world. The stone monolith idol of Nandi is continually covered with new layers of butter, benne in the local language of Kannada. There is an idol of the elephant-headed Hindu deity Ganesha close by. Bengaluru Cantonment railway station, also known as Bangalore Cantonment railway station (station code: BNC) is one of the four important railway stations serving the city of Bangalore and it is located in the locality of Vasanth Nagar and adjoins Fraser Town,Benson Town and Shivajinagar. The Station started operations in 1864, with the launch of the Bangalore Cantonment – Jolarpettai train services by the Madras Railway. The train line was broad-gauge and 149 km long, connecting the Bangalore Cantonment with Vellore district. A total of 119 passenger trains start/end/pass through Bangalore Cantonment railway station. Padukone, the daughter of the badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. As a teenager, she played badminton in national level championships but left her career in the sport to become a fashion model. She soon received offers for film roles and made her acting debut in 2006 as the title character of the Kannada filmAishwarya. Padukone then played a dual role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in her first Bollywood release, the romance Om Shanti Om (2007), which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. It aims to promote theatre in all languages and prides itself in lending out the space at an extremely low fare. It follows an at least "a play a day" policy, six days a week (except on Mondays). Its annual theatre festival brings to the city plays from across the country, giving the audience a good spread to choose from. Bengaluru Airport (IATA: BLR, ICAO: VOBL), officially Kempegowda International Airport, is an international airport serving Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, India. Spread over 4,000 acres (1,600 ha), it is located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) north of the city near the suburb of Devanahalli. It is owned and operated by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), a public–private consortium. The airport opened in May 2008 as an alternative to increased congestion at HAL Airport, the original primary commercial airport serving the city. It is named after Kempe Gowda I, the founder of Bangalore. Kempegowda International Airport became Karnataka's first fully solar powered airport, developed by CleanMax Solar.
The airport is the third-busiest airport by passenger traffic, air traffic movements and domestic and total cargo handled in India, behind the airports in Delhi and Mumbai, and is the 26th busiest airport in Asia. In FY 2023–24, the airport handled over 37.5 million passengers and 439,495 tonnes (484,460 short tons) of cargo. Krishnarajapuram (officially Krishnarajapura) often abbreviated as K R Puram or K R Pura, is an eastern neighborhood of Bangalore, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is one of the zones of BBMP. It is located 15 km (9.3 mi) from Bangalore City railway station. The Old Madras Road passes through this locality. A lake called 'Vengayyana Lake' is in the heart of this area. The Yele Mallappa Shetty Lake near Medahalli, situated just outside the eastern limits of KR Pura, is one of the largest lakes in Bangalore.
Krishnarajapuram is also the headquarters of the Bangalore East taluk and houses certain central and state government offices. It is also a Karnataka Legislative Assembly constituency. B A Basvaraja of the Bharatiya Janata Party was elected as the Member of Legislative assembly from this constituency in the 2013 Karnataka Assembly election, and re-elected in 2018.
