@Le Deluge and Gonnym: I tried to revert the category changes on the articles, but somehow placed most of them into Category:Apple TV+ films instead. (I think I rolled back the wrong IP's edits.) That name did not seem to be opposed by the above, so I changed the remaining articles likewise and moved the category page to that name. Is that an acceptable outcome? – FayenaticLondon 21:31, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Fayenatic london: It comes down to whether Apple TV is considered a cinema film studio - which use the "Foo films" format, or a television station, which uses the "Foo original films" format. I'd suggest that its name alone implies we treat it as the latter, matching eg Category:Netflix original films, but it's not something I'd go to the wall on. Thanks, Le Deluge. @Gonnym: do you accept the precedent of Netflix (and its many sub-cats) as sufficient rationale to depart from the majority pattern within Category:American films by studio? – FayenaticLondon 20:21, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe. I see there is no Television film by network category, so for now that seems correct. --Gonnym (talk) 07:27, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I realised that that category was also analysed by country, so those distributors' films are now in Category:American television films. 15 of that category's sub-cats now have the naming format "Foo original films". – FayenaticLondon 21:22, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The style of "x films" is probably bad as it's unclear what the scope is and a more correct style would be "Films produced by x" and "Films distributed by x", making these such of categories much more clear (and also addressing an issue some people had with names such as "X Film films"). --Gonnym (talk) 07:58, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
