Inclusion[edit]
Is it really honest to categorize someone as a Unitarian Universalist if he or she died before there was such a thing as Unitarian Universalism? We wouldn't categorize, for example, Jonathan Mayhew as a United States citizen because the state where he lived (Massachussetts) joined with others to form the US after his death, and Mayhew was a critical figure in the birth of the US. Still, he was not a member of the category "US persons" because the US had not formed by the time of his death. Likewise, the UUA had not formed by the time many of the people on this list passed on.
Not only is it simply inaccurate, it is also implicitly based on the speculation that the person would have approved of the merger of the AUA and UCA, something which has no basis in fact unless specific documents are cited indicating the person's favorable attitude toward such a merger.
